TRAINING

I qualified with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Natal. My internship comprised of two 6 month placements. Firstly, the Child & Family Center (University of Natal) where I gained supervised experience treating children and families, and secondly Townhill Hospital which provided practical training in treating a wide range of psychiatric difficulties.

I have undergone advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and am currently working towards certification as an EFT Therapist with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).

I have also completed level 1 training in Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT).

EXPERIENCE

Over the years I have worked both in state and private settings. After my internship, I worked for a year at Estcourt hospital and was responsible for setting up a Clinical Psychology department from scratch. I then moved to Townhill Hospital where I worked for over 6 years and gained invaluable experience in both community and hospital settings. For most of this period I was responsible for managing the outpatient psychology services at Townhill Hospital and also engaged in supervision and training of intern psychologists . I then moved into the private sector and worked at Akeso Clinic, Pietermaritzburg, where I managed their inpatient therapeutic programme. In 2013 I moved into full-time private practice and I also continue to be involved in the training and supervision of intern psychologists at Fort Napier Hospital.
